International Removals by Sea Freight
Full Container Load (FCL) – This is the best service if you are thinking of moving the whole contents of your house or office. Kennedy Movers can even arrange for a shipment container to be delivered and loaded at your premises. This is subject to site access. This method ensures that the container carries only your goods, the container is sealed at your residence. We then arrange a booking onto the next suitable transport.
Pre -booking can also be arranged in advance. Kennedy Movers have many trusted overseas partners that arrange to meet your container and carry out any necessary customs procedures. Our Overseas Move Coordinator will advise and discuss all the options and procedures.
Container sizes depend on the volume of household effects:
6 metre (20 foot) Length 5.96m (19’4″) Width 2.34m (7’8″) Height 2.40m (7’10″)
12 metre (40 foot) Length 12.03m (39’6″) Width 2.34m (7’8″) Height 2.40m (7’10″)
Less Container Load ( LCL ) – This is the best method if your volume of furniture is too large for airfreight, too small for a full container load but needs to be delivered fast or to an unusual location. Your personal effects are export-wrapped, fully itemized and packed at your home, and then delivered to our warehouse, where they will be cased before delivery to the required port. You goods will be in a shared container with other consignments going to the same destination. This method is slightly cheaper than the full container but still can be quite costly due to the crating of goods and transit time.
Groupage Container Load – This method is by far the cheapest. This consists of your items being export-wrapped and loaded into the container with other customers’ furniture items going to the same destination. With no crating involved and by only having household items on board the cost is dramatically reduced, with significant savings being passed onto you, the customer. The only downside to this method is that transit times are longer, and is best suited to non-urgent items.
International Removals by Airfreight
Airfreight is the best method for those small, fragile pieces you require quickly, as the transit time is much shorter than container shipping. Many families elect to take “survival” shipments of their personal belongings. Your personal items will be itemised and cased to ensure maximum protection during transit. Airfreight is charged per kilo, so always compare the cost of sea freight versus airfreight. Airfreight is usually more expensive but can sometimes be less costly and more convenient. Similar transit options are available with air carriers, including direct, consolidated and trans-shipment.
